Kathryn M. Kucan McCaskey, 70, of Weirton died Thursday, July 16, 2020, at her home of natural causes.
Born on April 27, 1950, Kathy was the second born of four daughters born to George and Virginia Grapa Kucan of Weirton.
Kathy’s life centered around her faith. She was a member of Saint Peter’s Roman Catholic Church in Steubenville OH and was active in Saint Paul’s Christian Mothers. She was a Lecter and volunteered many hours to her church.
An avid reader Kathy enjoyed going to lunch with her friends and loved finding great deals at TJ Maxx.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Justice “Mac” McCaskey in January of 1995.
In addition to her parents, George and Virginia Kucan, Kathy will be remembered with love by her son, Joseph F. (Jessica) Porter, IV; her three sisters, Linda Kucan, Debbie (Rick) Witkowski and Kim (Winn) Van Brimer; and her grandchildren, Jordan and Tyler Porter.
Private services will be held on Saturday.
Rev. Father Timothy Huffman will preside.
Kathy will be laid to rest next to her husband at Saint Paul’s Cemetery, Weirton.

Kathy and I were friends for a long time. We met in 1956 in first grade at Millsop Elementary where I attended for a few years. We reconnected and became good friends at Madonna. After high school, we went in different directions but reconnected again in 1995 and for the past 25 years met for lunch monthly or whenever we could. She was a good person with an independent kind of spirit. She had a lively sense of humor and that gift kept me laughing whenever we got together. At our last lunch in June we laughed about turning 70 and how we couldn’t believe it! Although I can’t help focusing on my grief and my loss, I know that her family is suffering and I send my heartfelt condolences to her parents, her son and his family, her sisters, her niece and nephew and her grandchildren. We are all going to miss her so much.
To the Kucan family….my deepest condolences to all of you. I have fond memories visiting as I was growing up.
So sorry to learn of Kathy’s passing. My dad, John Porec, was friends with Mac. My dad was visiting with Mac when he found out about the puppies. Kathy had a Lhasa Apso dog who was about to have puppies. She didn’t know if the dog was going to have pure breed or mixed because the dog apparently had been with both! My mom agreed to take a puppy either way. So, we got Nikki and she appeared to be full Lhasa Apso but there was no DNA testing at that time. We loved that Nikki! She was beautiful and had such a nice disposition. Whenever my mom and Kathy saw each other they would laugh about the puppies. God bless Kathy’s family. Sincere condolences from the Porec family.

Kathy was a kind, caring person. I have such wonderful memories of our times together. Praying that God will provide comfort to her family as you grieve her death. Kathleen Katsorchis
