Mr. Kenneth Carlton “Bud” Baker, 83, a longtime resident of Weirton passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at Weirton Medical Center, after a lengthy post operative stay. He was born on July 27, 1917 in Middlebourne, WV son of the late Andrew and Missouri Smith Baker. He was also preceded in death by his oldest grandchild, AWC(AW) Andrew Kenneth Baker in a Navy helicopter crash with the Navy Seal Team in 1997. Kenneth was a blacksmith and steward retiree of Weirton Steel Co. When Bud moved to Weirton, he became quite active serving and holding offices with many organizations. He became a Charter and Lifetime member of the Weirton Heights Volunteer Fire Dept. He was also involved with an Honorary and Charter member of the Sheriff’s Association. He was a member of F.O.P.A.; BPO Elks Lodge # 1801, Masonic Lodge No 171, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry 32nd degree/Wheeling, WV; Northern Panhandle Shrine Club/Osiris Temple of Wheeling, WV; Weirton Community Radio Watch; Three Score Senior Club; Lions Club; PA Gun Collectors Association; National Rifle Association; AARP/Chapter 3846, and the Weirton Heights Memorial Baptist Church. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 65 years, Eva C. Baker, whom he married December 1, 1935. A son, Charles Paul Baker and wife, Loretta (Lonnie) Balo Baker of New Cumberland, one daughter; Peggy Sue Baker Rohe and husband, Thomas L. of Pittsburgh, PA, survive. A sister, Frances Edelman of Dayton, OH, survives. His grandson Andrew left behind his wife, Senior Chief Warrant Officer Tina (Hacker) Baker and two sons, Andrew Kenneth Baker II and Jacob Harwell Baker of Middleburg, FL. His other grandsons include Jeffrey Paul Baker of Chester, and his two sons Nick and Dirk. Also surviving include, Master Sgt. Douglas Preston Baker and wife, Kathleen of Wetumpka, Alabama and their children Sasha and Melissa: Jason Daniel Baker of Weirton and his fiance, Regina Terrimanni: and his youngest grandson, Ryan Baker Rohe of Peters Township. Visitation will be 7-9 PM Wednesday and 2-4 & 7-9 PM Thursday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at the funeral home.
