L. Kenneth Jerrel, 63, of Weirton, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2009 in the Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV. Born August 19, 1946 in Ocala, FL, he was the son of the late Lloyd Jerrel and Mary Fankhouser Jerrel Strickler. With 34 years of service, Kenneth retired from Weirton Steel where he worked as a pipe fitter in the construction department. He was a member of the WSX 25-Year Club, American Legion Post 10, VFW Post 2716 and was an avid Nascar fan. He was a Vietnam veteran, having served in the United States Navy. Mr. Jerrel is survived by his wife Gloria Ciervo Jerrel; son Mark Jerrel and his wife Janine; daughter Maria Jerrel-Tasey all of Weirton; grandchildren Kelson, Jayce, and Kiri Jerrel and Megan and Justin Tasey; sister Margo Olenick of Newell, WV; and a daughter Michele Bain and her three children. Friends will be received Friday from 5 until the 8PM Memorial Service at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Pastor Craig Greathouse will officiate. Private interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, Gift Processing, Post Office Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.

I am so sorry to hear this very sad news. I can honestly say that Ken was one of the nicest persons I have ever known. He will be missed.
