laura rosiak
Laura Bernice Rosiak, 81, of Weirton, died Friday, February 6, 2004 at the Weirton Medical Center. She was born on June 21, 1922 in Weirton, a daughter of the late Adam Mankowski and Bernice (Marcziewska) Mankowski. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph S. Rosiak, whom she married in 1942; one son, Joseph W. Rosiak; and five brothers, Frank, Stanley, Tony, John, and Edward Mankowski. Laura worked in the Sorting Room of the Weirton Steel Tin Mill, was a housekeeper for Dr. Flood, and was also a homemaker. She was a member of the Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Rosary/Christian Mothers, Sacred Heart Choir, American Legion Auxiliary, V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, T. Kosciuszko Society; and the Catholic Golden Age. Laura is survived by one son, Eugene Rosiak of New Manchester, WV; one daughter, Teresa Lee (James) Barkley of Weirton; two brothers, Joseph and Walter Mankowski, both of Weirton; three sisters, Mary Kowalik of Wheeling, WV and Ida Bilkowski and Ann Kasprzak, both of Weirton; four grandsons; two granddaughters; four great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 7-9 PM Monday and 2-4 and 7-9 PM Tuesday at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where a vigil service will be held 8:30 PM Tuesday. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Wednesday at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Walter Jagela presiding. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton.   1. Always kind and when we went to visit she always wanted us to eat. Always faithful in our lord Jesus and to church,She loved her children and grandchildren and family and worried all the time about them. she will be missed!

  3. I was honored to care for Laura in her last moments at the hospital as a nursing student. I prayed for Laura and her family to have peace. I know she is at peace now. Laura was surrounded by a wonderful and loving family.

  4. Gene and Theresa I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your Mom. I just found out, because I was in Presbyterian Hospital for a week. You are both in my thoughts and prayers at this time.
