Laverne Katherine Nicholson

Laverne Katherine Nicholson, 82, of Weirton, died unexpectedly Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at her home. Born January 7, 1934, in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of the late Alfredo and Lydia Cielo. Laverne retired as a presser from Friendly Cleaners, which was owned by her parents. She was a very outgoing people person and enjoyed hosting parties. When she wasn't spending time with her family, she could often be found spending time in her flower gardens as she was known for having a "green thumb". She is survived by her husband Jack Nicholson; sons Jack and Kenneth (Catherine) Nicholson, both of Weirton; brother Alfred Cielo of PA; sister Louise Meadowcroft of Pittsburgh; grandchildren Allison, Paula and Kenneth Nicholson, Jackie (Brock) Selman and six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Friday from 11 AM until the time of funeral services at 1 PM at Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, Reverend Dr. Ed Rudiger will officiate.
