Lawrence Edward Spencer, 62, of Weirton, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2006 at the Weirton Medical Center. Lawrence was born on December 27, 1943, in Weirton, WV, the son of the late Parley L. and Emma Mary (Roberts) Spencer. He was also preceded in death by his four brothers, Burl, Earl (Peas), Wilbur (Frank), and Clinton Keith (Buck) Spencer; and one sister, Patricia Haley. Lawrence retired form Weirton Steel with 30 years of service, where he worked as an Inspector on the #4 Pickler. In 2005, he retired from the Weirton Medical Center where he worked in the transport department. Lawrence served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the WSX 25 Year Club. Lawrence was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan and a proud West Virginian who made friends everywhere he traveled. He is survived by his five sisters; Betty J. Beegle of Paden City, WV., Helen M. Jenkins and her husband James of Steubenville, OH., Donna L. Trost and her husband Clair of Monongahela, PA., and Carolyn Sue Spencer and Karen S. Wheatley, both from Weirton, WV. Lawrence was also known as the “favorite uncle” to the several nieces and nephews that he leaves behind. Visitation will be held from 2-4 & 7-9 PM Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where the funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday.   1. I waited on Lawrence for years at McCauslen’s Florist. He was such a kind man, a gentleman. When he walked through the door, he always had a smile on his face. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
