Lelia M. Beatty, 86, of Weirton, died Friday, February 18, 2005 at the Weirton Medical Center. She was born September 19, 1918 in Louisa, KY, a daughter of the late Cecil and Cora (Carter) Chafin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Shirl G. Beatty, Sr.; one brother, Lonnie Chafin; one grandchild; and her daughter-in-law, Vickie Beatty. Lelia was a homemaker, a member of the First Baptist Church of Weirton, Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, Independent Order of Odd Fellows Star of the Valley Rebekah Lodge 73, A.A.R.P. Weirton Chapter 2788, and the Order of Eastern Star. Lelia is survived by one son, Shirl Beatty, Jr. of New Manchester, WV; two daughters, Dorothy Jenkins and her husband Omar, and Monnie Mack and her husband Harry, all of Weirton; three brothers, Cecil Chafin, Jr. and his wife Evelyn of Weirton, Roy Chafin and his wife Alice of Alabama, and Andrew Chafin and his wife Mary of Weirton; one sister, Roberta Hawkins and her husband Robert of Ohio; five grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where funeral services will be held 10 AM Tuesday. Pastor David Fink will preside.
