Nadia “Linda” Jean Platt, 73, of Weirton passed away on Tuesday January 29, 2019 at the Weirton Medical Center.
The daughter of the late John and Anna Zalocke Kurpil, Linda was born on March 23, 1945 in Steubenville OH.
Linda graduated from Weir High School in 1963. She married John R. Platt on July 24, 1965 and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She was a member of Sacred Herat of Mary Roman Catholic Church, and the Christian Mothers.
She is survived by her husband, John; her three sons, Gregory and Linda Platt of Harrisburg, PA, David and Jackie Platt and Steven and Laura Platt all of Pittsburgh, PA; her six grandchildren, John, Claudia, Ted and Julia Platt all of Pittsburgh, PA and Alex and Evan Platt of Harrisburg, PA. Linda is also survived by her brother, Richard and Lois Kurpil of Benwood, WV; and two brothers in law, George Platt of Weirton, WV and Chick and Mary Philipps of Parma Heights, OH,
Visitation will be Friday 3- 7 PM at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:45 AM Saturday at Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church 200 Preston Avenue Weirton
Interment will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart of Mary Church Building Fund 200 Preston Avenue Weirton 26062.
Today I learned my Aunt Linda answered God’s call home last evening, something we all must do one day in God’s good time. I am grateful that His good time allowed Aunt Linda and Uncle Jack to share over 53 years of marriage as a devoted, loving couple, inspiring everyone one around them about what raising a loving family is all about. Jack and All of Your Family. I am so sorry to hear about Linda. She was one courageous lady and all of you have supported her for so many years with her illnesses. My love and hugs are with all of your during this time. Linda will be missed by all, but I am glad she is now walking around happy and with joy being with our family in heaven.
Dearest Uncle Jack, cousins Greg, David, Steven, your spouses and children: I was saddened to hear of Aunt Linda’s passing. Throughout her life she was an elegant woman when it came to her fashion sense and attire. She was a devoted daughter to her parents during their lives. An absolutely doting mother to you boys and a loving grandmother. Above all she was a soulmate for over five decades to you, Uncle Jack, as you were to her. Your life together faced many challenges but you both faced every challenge with profound faith and stayed strong. I will never forget taking a shortcut up your side stairs on a beautiful Fall Saturday in 1976 to deliver papers on your street. Your side door was open enough for me to see Aunt Linda preparing a family meal. The whole scene was absolutely beautiful. It was the following week that her life changed dramatically and we all feared the worst. By God’s grace, Aunt Linda persevered and overcame many barriers and presumed limitations and in years that passed, there she was again lovingly preparing meals in that kitchen as only she could. I know that you all will grieve losing her in a profound way. I want you to know that I hold you in my most sincere prayers as I extend my heartfelt sympathy. I regret that I am not able to be with you personally in the days ahead for the services in Weirton. I shall be with you in thought and spirit. I send warm hugs from Florida and constant prayers for your good! Saints of God, come to her aid, hasten to meet her angels of the Lord… Receive her soul and present her to God, present her soul to God most high! Give eternal rest, O Lord and may Your Light shine on Aunt Linda forever! Amen

Stas–Thank You so much for your beautiful thoughts and prayers for Aunt Linda..Yes, she was a strong woman that fought and struggled with many problems in her lifetime. BUT..she always perservered due to her faith in God. Her favorite saint was St. Joseph and she had the prayer to St. Joseph committed to memory. During her 2-1/2 years in the nursing home, she must have said that prayer once or twice every week.. Thank you, again for your beautiful tribute and you will be in my thoughts during all of the services.. God Bless.. “This is the day the Lord Has Made., Let Us Rejoice and be Glad..”
