linda romitti
Linda Marie Romitti of Weirton, a dedicated educator for forty years, passed away Friday, October 16, 2020, from complications of type 2 diabetes. She was 68 years old. Linda was born on February 8, 1952, the first of three children born to Henry and Laura Warzynski Drizmala. She grew up in Weirton, WV, and graduated from Weir High School in 1970. She continued her education at West Liberty State College and West Virginia University, where she earned her Master’ Degree. It was in Morgantown, WV, where she first met Tom Romitti. He asked her out, but Linda was too busy with her studies to go. Two years later, they met again, and she decided to go; they dated two years and were married on June 13, 1981. In their 39 years of marriage, they were blessed with a son Andrew who followed in his mother’s footsteps of being an educator. Linda retired after forty years with the Hancock County Board of Education, where she taught first-grade at Broadview Elementary School. Some families had Linda for multiple generations. Most of all, Linda will be remembered for her caring, sweet, and friendly nature. She can be described as fiercely loyal, especially when it came to her friends and family. Linda nourished her faith at Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church and Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church. She will be remembered with love by her husband, Thomas Romitti; her son, Andrew Romitti; her sister, Janice (Mario) Boni; her brother, Thomas (Luann) Drizmala; her nephew, Mario Boni; and her Australian Blue Heeler, Raider who never left her side. Private family visitation and liturgy of the word funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 20, 2020, at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Saint Paul’s Cemetery. In recognition of Linda’s love of reading and education, memorial contributions may be made to Weirton Elementary School in the memo line “Read with me Weirton.” 3428 Pennsylvania Avenue Weirton Share tributes and memories at www.grecohertnick.com 304 748 3219

I first remember her going to Sacred Heart of Mary Church every Sunday with her family always sitting in the front on the right side of the church. I always thought her mom was beautiful. I taught at Weirton Heights Elementary, but I saw Linda at many classes, school meetings, inservice, etc, over 40 years, and I thought Linda was Exceptionally kind, sweet, and always had a beautiful smile on her face, like her mother. Janis, I will pray for you too, because I also lost a sister three years ago. You will do a lot of grieving for Linda, but you will still have so many happy times in your life. I will pray daily for Linda, a wonderful person, and awesome first grade teacher. May her soul rest in peace, and let perpetual light shine upon her. Janet Mcclintock
