Louis Kuzma

Louis Kuzma, 79, of Weirton, passed away, at his home on Sunday, January 21, 2018.
Born on December 26, 1938 in Weirton, WV, Louis was the son of the late John and Mary Redish
Kuzma. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Michael and Paul Kuzma.
Louis retired in 1997 from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, where he worked in car repair prior to working on the track gang in the coke plant.
Louis excelled at everything he put his mind to. In his younger years, he was a dedicated runner. He was also a talented chef, who enjoyed sharing his gifts of home grown fruits, vegetables, and home cooked meals with his family and friends. An extremely intelligent man, Louis was a lifelong learner,making daily trips to the library. Hunting, fishing, gardening from seed, and a good book were among his favorite passions in life. But most of all Louis will be remembered for the love he had for his daughters and grandchildren.
He is survived by his four daughters, Lorraine, Nora, Rachel and Grace; his grandchildren, Ariana,Gunnar, Ava and Jack; two brothers, a sister; and several nieces and nephews.
Private family visitation was held on Wednesday January 24, 2018, at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. He will be deeply missed.

Shocked and saddened at the loss of Lou. Lou was one of a kind and I feel grateful to have known him and calling him friend. Please accept my condolence. , My thoughts are with you and my memories of Lou
My Family and I are very saddened at the passing of Lou. We and especially myself and my half sister Jenny will miss our conversations and phone calls with him. I’ll miss the way he always called me Louie and mostly Lou. Over the years I kept in touch through my aunt (my mom’s sister) until I moved back to Mingo Junction 8 years ago and began talking to Lou in person. I will always appreciate the time I spent with him, the vegetables he gave me from his garden, and the fatherly advice he shared with me such as “if you want to get to know a person and the way they are take him fishing” among other things he told me. In the very short 8 years I had to get reacquainted with Lou, all I can say is I enjoyed our time together as a father-son relationship, even though we could never have a dad and son relationship. We were friends and I’ll never forget the first time he met my wife and children and acknowledged them as their grandfather and he loved them. I regret that we did not get to pay our last respects but I’m as sure as he is that he knows how we feel about him. He will always be remembered an I will always have the utmost respect for him. On behalf of my half-sister Jenny and myself I say, “Thanks for the memories, Dad.”
