lucinda alongi
Lucinda M. “Cindy” Alongi, of Weirton, WV, an inspiration to all who knew her, passed away on March 11, 2020, fifteen months after being diagnosed with stage four metastatic cancer. She was 59. Cindy spent most of her career caring for the elderly at Serra Village, which was established by her late father, Lou Serra. Although being a caregiver was innate in her, Cindy had other passions as well. Faith was the center of her life; she relished the time spent with her prayer group, Sisters in Christ, and her time assisting the less fortunate in our community. Cindy was a brave and special person. She can also be described as, cool, fun and extremely generous, and humble. Helping others in need was her way of paying back for all the times she needed help. Not everyone in life can say they met a real-life Christian. Those who knew Cindy in her 59 years were blessed with that privilege and learned from her attitude and benefitted from her prayers. She will be remembered with love by her husband, Joseph Alongi, whom she married on February 27, 1993; her son, Casey Richards and his wife Jenna; her daughter, Serra Alongi; and her sister, Rhonda Quatrocchi and her husband, Geno. Cindy was preceded in death by her father, Louis F. Serra, and her mother, Dorsiene Glover Serra Lyons, and her brother, Joseph J. Serra. Friends and family will be received on Friday from 2-8 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St., Weirton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM Saturday at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Weirton Very Reverend Father Dennis R. Schuelkens Jr., V.E. will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton. Cindy’s family would like to thank Dr. Provenzano and the entire staff of Trinity West for all their love and care they provided for Cindy. Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Joseph the Worker Church, Weirton Christian Center or the Serra Foundation. Share tributes and memories at www.grecohertnick.com

  16. Cousins Cindy and Rhonda shared some wonderful summers with my sister, Tina, and me (Lisa). I remember singing, laughing and dodging parents as we stayed awake past bedtime. Cindy was the feisty and brave one who managed to call Aunt Joan ” Joanie Baby” without a reprimand. Cindy gave the world two beautiful children who are continuing her legacy of love in the world. She gave us the face of God through her sacramental marriage with Joe. Cindy overcame her challenges with the love of God and community. She returned that love as she mentored others on their spiritual journey. Her faith enabled her to live the words of the prophet Micah: To act with Justice, love tenderly and walk humbly with God. Eternal life grant into her o Lord and may perpetual light shine upon her. With love from cousin Lisa

  17. Sure miss you my pretty sister in Christ! Please pray for All of us in these trying times. We shared many stories of our faith, May you rest with Jesus until we meet again. Love you, Patti Barnabei
