Lyle Keith Sadler, 69, of New Cumberland, died Sunday, October 20, 2002, at his residence. He was born on August 21, 1933 in Salem, WV, the son of Burga Davisson Balon of Steubenville and the late Leslie Sadler. He was also preceded in death by his step father, Hubert Balon. Lyle retired from the Tin Mill Electric Department of Weirton Steel where he worked as a motor inspector for 39 years. He served his country in the United States Army. Lyle was a member of the Sacred Heart Church in Chester, WV, the Weirton Steel 25-Year Club and the Weirton Moose Lodge #688. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Gerber Sadler whom he married July 10, 1954; two sons, Brian Sadler of Cranberry Township, PA and Derek Sadler of Guam; one daughter, Leslie Horton of Frederick, MD; a brother, Douglas Sadler; step-brother Thomas Balon both of Weirton; two step-sisters, Patricia Chihocky of Weirton and Carolyn Streho of Burgettstown, PA. Lyle also has two grandchildren, Kevin and Kelly Sadler of Cranberry Township, PA. Visitation will be held 2:00 – 4:00PM and 7:00 – 9:00 PM on Wednesday, October 23, 2002 at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. A vigil service will be held on Wednesday at 3:00PM at the funeral home. Funeral Liturgy with mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 24 at the Sacred Heart Church in Chester with Rev. Father Rodger Hughes presiding. Interment will follow at the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Steubenville, Ohio with military services conducted by the American Legion Post 10 Honor Guard, VFW 2716 Firing Squad, and the Tri State Marine Corp.
