Mabel X. Porter

Mabel X. Porter, 86 of Weirton died Thursday November 30, 2000 at her residence. She was born on February 26, 1914 in Lynn Camp, WV, the daughter of the late Edward R. Milton and Susan McCleary Milton. She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Porter on January 14, 1983; her four brothers Merle, Arthur, John and Ted; her two sisters Flossie Morgan and Edna Hamil. Mabel was a retired school teacher in Hancock County, were she was a devoted teacher for 25 years. She was a member of the Weirton Heights Memorial Baptist Church, WV Association of Retired School Employees, Hancock County Retired School Employees, Weirton Chapter #147 Order of the Eastern Star, AREME Club, Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, AARP 2788. Surviving include her two sons, James C. of Weirton and Daniel E. of Alexandria Virginia; her two sisters Hazel Huber of Weirton and Margaret Keefe of Charleston, WV and her three grandaughters, Gail, Susan and Kay. Memorial Services will be held 11:00 AM Monday at the Weirton Heights Memorial Baptist Church, with Rev. Kregg F. Burris officiating. Interment will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Weirton.
