Mapel V Hooker

Mapel V. Hooker, 82 of Weirton, died May 1, 2002 at Kindred Hospital, Oakdale, Pa. She was born July 1, 1919 in New Martinsville, WV, the daughter of the late Newman and Ida Amos Carroll. Her husband William F. Hooker, two brothers Claude and Arnold Carroll and one step grandson also preceded her. Mapel was a homemaker and a Protestant by faith. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Rebekah Lodge. She is survived by two sons; Gary Stewart of Weirton and Richard Stewart and his wife Iris of Largo, Fla.; four step sons, Ronald and James Hooker of New Manchester, WV, Joseph Hooker of Follansbee, WV, and William F. Hooker of Huntington Beach, Ca; one daughter, Dianna Warrick and her husband Mickey of Weirton, two step daughters, Stella Carothers and her husband Edward of Cadiz, Ohio, and Sue Hanlon and her husband Jim of Follansbee, WV. She has two brothers Odis Carroll of Longwood, Fla., and Clarence Carroll of Wellsburg, WV. She has three sisters, Jolena Spear of Wellsburg, Thelma Ellison and Ann Wandling of Weirton. Mapel has four grandsons, two great grandsons, fourteen step grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday from 2-4 and 7-PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St. Weirton, where services will be held Saturday at 1:00PM in the funeral home.
