Margaret "Marge" M. Smerek Dresel, 82, of Weirton, passed away Thursday, August 26, 2010 in the Weirton Geriatric Center. Born October 4, 1927 in Weirton, WV, she was a daughter of the late George Sr. and Mary Bubnas Smerek . She was also preceded in death by her husband George J. Dresel, Jr., in December 2006; son, George "Bucky" Dresel, in February 2008; granddaughter, Katherine "Katie" Dresel, in July 2005; brother, George Smerek, in June 2002; brother, Andrew Smerek, in October 2000; sister, Julia Smerek, in December 1988. Marge worked as a clerk at the Weirton Steel General Office before her marriage of 57 years to George. She spent her life as a homemaker, wife and mother. She was a member of the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Weirton. Mrs. Dresel is survived by her daughter, Peggy A. Chek and her husband Joseph of Weirton; son, Jerry and his wife Maria of Long Island, NY; grandchildren Emily and Jenna Dresel, Matthew Dobrick and his wife Lindsay, and D.M. Dobrick; step-children Kristin Zook, Joey, Kris and Kelly Chek. Friends will be received Saturday from 8:30 to 9:30 AM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Funeral liturgy with mass will be celebrated 10:00 AM Saturday at St. Paul's Church. The Reverend Father Larry Dorsch will officiate. Entombment will be at St. Paul's Cemetery. The family wants to thank the Weirton Geriatric Center for all the generous love, care and support given to their mother during her stay.
