Maria Psaros, 89, of Weirton, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2009 in the Weirton Medical Center. Born November 25, 1919 in Kos, Greece, she was a daughter of the late Pericles and Pearl Hatzinkolaou Kallos. She was also preceded in death by her husband Michael Psaros on August 8, 2000 and a sister Dorothy Thomas on January 31, 2004. Mrs. Psaros was a homemaker and a member of the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church. Maria is survived by her sons George Psaros and his wife Mary Ann of Weirton and Perry Psaros and his wife Carol of Bethany Beach, Delaware; daughter Pearl Tranto and her husband Nick; brother John Kallos all of Weirton; grandchildren Michael Psaros and his wife, Robin; Harry Psaros and his wife; Michelle, Perry Psaros and his wife Rachel; Dr. Maria Tranto and her husband Dr. George Dimitriou; 9 great-grandchildren Alexandra, Leonidas, Marina, Costa, Maximos, Alexa and Luke Psaros; Periclea and Nektarios Dimitriou. Friends and relatives will be received Saturday from 9 until the 11AM Funeral Liturgy at the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church with The Reverend Father Frank Milanese officiating. Interment will be in Chestnut Ridge Cemetery, Florence, PA. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, Weirton, WV. Memorial contributions may be made to the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, 3528 West Street, Weirton, WV 26062. Yiayia’s family extends a special thanks to the entire staff of the Weirton Medical 6th Floor Skilled Care Unit for their devotion and love for Yiayia.

  10. Dear Pearl,and Family I am so sorry to hear that Yia Yia passed away. She was a very special, wonderful,and a great lady that everyone would love to be around. She was like a grandmother to me. We had so much fun together. I really happy that you let me take care of her for the length of time I had with her as a Home health aide and let me take care of her in the hospital on my time. I just loved to be around her, she was a pleasant lady to be around. I will always remember her. I am so sorry that I haven’t been there for a long time. I wanted to, but I have been so busy with my life. You know that your mom is the special angel now. I will remember all the good times I had with her, and I will never forget her.
