marian barish
Marian Kay Barish, 86, of Weirton, WV; a loving mother and grandmother, passed away Monday December 28, 2020, at the Valley Hospice Care Center North, after complications from COVID-19. Marian was born in Weirton, WV on February 12, 1934, one of three children born to John and Mary Selmon. Marian graduated from Weir High School and made a lifelong career with Hanover Township serving as the Secretary-Treasurer for 45 years. Marian was the longest standing member of the Paris Presbyterian Church, where she enjoyed singing in the church choir. She was fun loving and a joy to those she was around, always with a smile. In addition to her parents, Marian was preceded in death by her husband, John Barish; her son, David Barish; her grandson, Daven Barish; her granddaughter, Ashley Tustin-Hayes; her brother, Rob Selmon; and her sister, Ruth Atkinson. She will be remembered with love and greatly missed by her daughters, Yvonne (Ted) Nilsson, and Cynthia (Joseph) Taylor, her boyfriend, Tom Paul; grandchildren, Trichelle Barish, Joshua Flati, Faith Rudnitski, Brandon Barish; great-grandchildren; Hunter Streng, Daven Murray, Addison Barish, Brandon Barish, Tyee Barish, Joshua Flati Jr, and Kayley Simpson. No one, not a single soul, would want for comfort while she had a say in the matter and that endeared her to all. You could depend on her. You still can. All of these qualities have been passed on to her children and grandchildren, so her moral insight and strength of character will live on for a very long time. We are blessed by her life. Visitation will be 12:30 PM until time of services at 2 PM Wednesday at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV. Rev. Dr. Christina Hosler will preside. Marian will be laid to rest next to her husband, John Barish, at Chestnut Ridge Cemetery in Florence, PA. share tributes at www.grecohertnick.com

Marion was truly a special woman and we can all take comfort in knowing she, Rob and Ruth are all at peace. We look forward to hopefully seeing you all soon. Barb, Sean and Becca Selmon

  2. I truly loved Aunt Marion! I loved visiting with her and our long talks about everything. I really enjoyed her company. I will always remember our trip to Daytona beach, our shopping trips and sight seeing. One of the smartest women I’ve ever met! She always gave the best advice! I will truly miss her! Cindy, Yavonne, Trichelle, Brandon and Faith, I’m truly sorry for your loss. Your gram was wonderful! Heaven just got a brand new angel! Sincerely Shary Williams Jones

  3. My husband Mike, our daughter Kayley and myself (Faith) send our condolences. Gram… I will always remember you getting pulled over in Weirton. The time you had my hair cut super short and I looked like a boy. The green jello stuff and your Oreo cookie jar….

  4. To Marian’s family: I am truly sorry I am so late in sending this; I was not aware of Marian’s passing until a few moments ago. I worked with Marian a very long time ago, when I worked with the P-F Area Water Association. She was delightful as well as competent, and made my job that much easier. I will always remember her fondly. I hope your memories of her bring you some measure of comfort. Sincerely Barbara (Rizzo) Graham
