Mary Catherine Grantonic Hadobas, 81 of Weirton died Friday, October 19, 2001 at her residence surrounded by her family. Mary Catherine was born on November 18, 1919 in Mingo Jct., OH, the daughter of the late Michael and Anna Getsey Grantonic. She worked for Rogers Jewelers and served her country during World War II prior to raising her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gabriel J. Hadobas on February 13, 1994. Mary Catherine was a member of Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Christian Mothers. She is survived by her son, Joseph A. Hadobas of Pittsburgh, PA and her daughter Mary G. Hadobas of Weirton, WV. She is also survived by her two brothers Jon T. Grantonic of Mingo Jct., OH and Lawrence Grantonic of Steubenville, OH and her four sisters; Alice Jones of Milpatas, CA; Agnes Wanchic of Mingo Jct., OH; Patricia Snyder of Milton, FL and Marlene Nese of Steubenville, OH. Visitation will be 1-3 & 7-9 PM Sunday at the Greco- Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton. Prayer services will be held 2:30 PM Sunday. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Monday at Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weirton with Rev Fr. Tony Thurston as celebrant. Interment in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Steubenville, OH, with military services conducted by the American Legion Post 10 Honor Guard, VFW 2716 Firing Squad and the Tri State Marine Corp. Memorial contributions in Mary Catherine’s memory may be made to Saint Paul Grade School 140 Walnut Street Weirton, WV 26062 or to the Valley Hospice 380 Summit Avenue Steubenville, OH 43952.
