Mary Ellen Ovington, 84, of Burgettstown, PA, passed away Monday, March 19, 2012 in the Inn at Wyngate, Weirton. Born June 4, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Clarence J. and Anna I. Volk Klein. She was also preceded in death by her husband John L. Ovington whom she married August 15, 1956 and who died April 21, 1997 and three brothers Kenneth, Ralph and Regis Klein. Mary Ellen was a graduate of Steubenville Catholic Central High School and The College of St. Mary of the Springs in Columbus, OH. She received her Masters Degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. She served as a case worker for the Catholic Social Services in Steubenville and was Director of Social Services for West Allegheny Hospital in Oakdale, PA. She was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Weirton and, most recently, a member of St. Ann Roman Catholic Church in Bulger, PA. Mrs. Ovington is survived by her children Mary Jude Patterson of Burgettstown, PA, Timothy K. (Corinna) Ovington of Warrenton, VA and Christopher R. (Debra) Ovington of Penn Hills, PA; grandchildren Jennifer J. and Morgan S. Patterson of Burgettstown, PA, Zachary O. Ovington of Warrenton, VA and Jack Christopher Ovington of Penn Hills, PA and her long-time friend Bill Beadling of Burgettstown. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated privately at St. Ann Roman Catholic Church, 967 Grant Street, Bulger, PA, with Father Bob Staszewski officiating. Interment will follow in St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton. Memorial contribution may be made to the American Foundation for the Blind, 2 Penn Plaza, Suite 1102, New York, NY 10121.
