Mary Kate Whitaker, 88, of Weirton, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2008 in the Weirton Medical Center. Born April 4, 1919 in Sewickley, PA, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Helen Lambie McMaster. She was also preceded in death by her husband Dr. Theodore Whitaker on July 13, 1999 and brother Hugh A. McMaster, Jr. Mary Kate was a homemaker, a member of Cove Presbyterian Church where she was a former elder and trustee. She served on the Board of Directors for the Mary H. Weir Library, served as the first President of the Hancock County Medical Society and was an Honorary Member of the Knights Templer. Mary Kate is survived by her sons Ted R. Whitaker and his wife Janice of Weirton and William M. Whitaker and his wife Patricia of Trafford, PA; daughters Mary W. Whitaker of Pittsburgh, PA and Helen DiPerna and her husband David of North Huntington, PA; brother Robert B. McMaster and his wife Jeanne of Meadville, PA; grandchildren Lisa Petra Whitaker, Todd Whitaker, Julie Sobel and her husband Ed, Amy Worthington and her husband Paul Brian, Paul Matthew Whitaker, Allison Sciullo and her husband Dave and Scott DiPerna and great-grandchildren Kirsten and Jason Pinkston, Taylor, Jacob and Nick Worthington and Madeline, Maxwell and Maura Sciullo. Friends and family will be received Saturday, March 15, 2008, from 10 until the 11AM funeral services at the Cove Presbyterian Church, 3404 Main Street, Weirton. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Cove Presbyterian Church, 3404 Main Street, Weirton, WV 26062.   5. To Mary Kate’s Family; I am so sorry for your loss. I met Mary Kate the day she moved into Serra Manor and was able to spend a lot of time with her at the Center. She was a beautiful lady and will be missed by so many people. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
