Mary Susan Slowikowski, 62, of Weirton, passed away Monday, February 29, 2016 in the Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. She was born May 2, 1953 in Steubenville, OH, a daughter of Nat "Sonny" Marino and the late Mary Ann (Maxwell) Marino who died on September 13, 2010. Mrs. Slowikowski was a Social Studies teacher for 5th grade students. She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Weirton Woman's Club, St. Joseph Choir, the National Education Association, Hancock Education Association and the West Virginia Education Association. Mary Susan is survived by her husband Robert Slowikowski; son John R. (Mercedes) Slowikowski; daughter Cathy Slowikowski all of Weirton; brother William "Michael" (Becky) Marino of Bergholz, OH; sister JoAnn Varner of Weirton; close friend of the family Araileia and her four loving cats. Friends will be received Thursday 2-4 and 6-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am Friday at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church with the Reverend Father Manuel Gelido officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 122 South High Street, Morgantown, West Virginia 26501 or National Kidney Foundation, 3109 Forbes Avenue, Suite 101, Pittsburgh, PA 15213.

Her students had an unconditional love for Susan and enjoyed being in her class and learning from her. I believe she is watching over her family and her students as an angel!!     I couldn’t believe it when I heard the news about your mom. Life can change in a blink of an eye 😢 We just don’t know what God has planned for each one of us…All I can say is . I ‘m so glad you didn’t have to watch her suffer nor did she have to suffer. She is in a better place then we are. We are selfish and want them with us forever . I m so sorry for you. I feel your pain. May God strengthen you with inner peace and comfort .. Hang in there.. It’s hard to loose our loved ones no matter how old they are. Don’t try and be super woman and not cry .. you cry .. it helps heal the pain a little easier then holding it in…
