Melvin (Dale) Walker

Melvin “Dale” Walker, 68, of Weirton, passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at his home. Born September 3, 1938 in Ronceverte, WV, he was the son of the late Melvin Dale and Sylvia M. Ramsey Walker, Sr. Dale was also preceded in death by his son Michael Dale Walker.
For 16 years, Dale owned and operated Walkers Auto Body Shop. He was a member of the Oakland Presbyterian Church, Community Radio Watch and Amateur Radio Club. He also served in the Army National Guard.
Dale’s survivors include his wife Geraldine “Gerri” Westfall Walker; daughter Diane R. Walker of Richmond, OH; step-daughters Darlene (Kevin) Haught and Melinda (Jeffrey) Vuiller all of Weirton; brothers Robert (Linda) Barlow of Wintersville, OH, John (Mary) Barlow; Edward Walker and William (Diana) Walker all of Weirton; sister Louise Budash of Atlasburg, PA; grandchildren Brittany and Tiffany Walker, Zachary and Sydney Vuiller, Emily and Anthony Gurrera and Luka Haught and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday 6-8 PM and Friday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Additional visitation will be held Saturday from 10 until the 11AM funeral services at the Oakland Presbyterian Church. Pastor Curt Watkins will officiate. Entombment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton where military services will be conducted by the American Legion Post 10 and Weirton Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions may be made to Valley Hospice or Oakland Presbyterian Church.

Dear Gerri, I hope you know how much you are loved and how much Dale will be missed by oh so many people. He was my neighbor, my helper, and my substitute brother for many years. It was difficult to leave you both 2 1/2 years ago, and it’s even more difficult knowing he isn’t there now.
