Michael Duane Eckels

Michael Duane Eckels, 61, of Weirton passed away at home in the arms of his mother and son on Thursday, November 30, 2017. Born November 2, 1956, he was a son of Dolores (Vermeulen) Eckels and the late David D. Eckels Jr. He was preceded in death by his wife Lori of 35 years in 2014 and his father David in 2012. Michael was a 1975 Graduate of Weir High. He worked as a heavy equipment hauler. He was the past master of the Masonic Lodge in Weirton, a member of the American Legion color guard, the Northern Panhandle Shrine and Osiris Shriners, as well as a proud Teamster member. Michael will fondly be remembered for being a friend to everyone, as he never met a stranger. He loved his family dearly. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his son Michael R. Eckels of Weirton; brothers David D. (Nancy) Eckels III and Mark L. (Annie) Eckels, both of California; sister Deborah A. (James) Wilson of Georgia and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday the Paris Presbyterian Church. Rev.
