Michelle Lauren “Kook” Kuczynski, of Weirton, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2021, following complications that originated with metastatic breast cancer. She was 40 years old. Michelle was born in Steubenville, OH, on May 31, 1980. A lifelong resident of Weirton, WV, Michelle was a cheerleader at Saint Paul's Grade School, Madonna High School, and West Liberty State College, where she graduated with a Criminal Justice degree. In addition to cheering at West Liberty, she also cheered for the Arena Football League in nearby Wheeling, WV. Michelle was currently employed as a caseworker for Jefferson County Job and Family Services, investigating child abuse and neglect. She was a caring, strong-willed advocate and voice for these young children. Michelle also represented the members of the Communication Workers of America Union Local 4572 as their Union President. Michelle’s love for cheering had her instructing area girls throughout the Ohio Valley. She judged tryouts for area high schools, and when she was the cheer coach for her alma mater Weirton Madonna High School, Michelle was selected to coach the OVAC All-Star Cheering Squad from West Virginia. Most of all, Michelle will be remembered for her beauty both inside and out, her outgoing, carefree personality, hysterical sense of humor, and love of life. Michelle will be remembered with love by her mother, Sandra Moroz Kuczynski. Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM Saturday at Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church 229 California Avenue Weirton, WV. Very Rev. Dennis R. Schuelkens, Jr., V.E. will preside. Michelle will be laid to rest at Saint Paul’s Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Michelle’s memory to Weirton Madonna High School 150 Michael Way Weirton, WV 26062. Then I had the privilege of seeing Michelle again when my daughter, Abby, was cheering for Madonna. She was always such a kind, sweet young lady.   16. Michelle was the coach the year my daughter was on the OVAC all star cheering squad. My daughter had suffered an injury and was afraid they wouldn’t let her cheer, but Michelle said she deserves this and allowed her to attend.
