Mike “Mikey” Frangos, an ornery, soft-hearted, and loving husband, father, and papou passed away on Tuesday, August 10, 2021. He was 77. Mike was born to Stravos and Athena Angelo Frangos on October 2, 1943. He grew up in Weirton, WV, and graduated from Weir High School in the Class of 1963. In July of 1965, Mike was off to Fort Benning, where he served as an auto mechanic and earned his sharpshooter (M-14 Rifle) metal in the United States Army. On October 7, 1973, he married his soul mate and the love of his life, Melanie Passadelis. In their 48 years of marriage, they were blessed with two daughters, two sons-in-law, and five grandchildren. Mike worked at Weirton Steel and was the co-owner of the Foley Suzuki Shop in Weirton. His wife Melanie was a registered nurse. After having some health issues, Mike retired from Weirton Steel after 37 ½ years of service on the continuous annealing lines in the tin mill. Even though Mikey loved riding and racing motorcycles, driving sports cars, attending car shows, and hunting nothing compared to his love for spending time with his wife, girls, and his grandchildren. Mikey was a member of the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church. Mikey will be remembered with love and admiration by his wife, Melanie; his daughters, Constance Blackburn (Chris);, and Steffanie Mamula(Greg); his loving grandchildren, Steffanie -Mikel Blackburn, Melanie Mamula, Lakyn Grace Blackburn, Gregory Marcus Mamula, and Jude Ella Hicks; his Godson, Thomas Karastamais; and many cousins and friends. Friends and family will be received on Sunday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home from 1 PM until 8 PM. A Trisagion service will be conducted at 7:20 PM followed by a eulogy by Mikey’s great friend and former business partner Pastor James Foglio. Additional visitation will be held Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of funeral services at 11:00 AM at the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church in Weirton. Rev. Fr. Frank A. Milanese will preside.
