Nancy Jane Yakunich, 79, of Weirton died Friday, December 1, 2006, at the Weirton Medical Center. She was born on May 7, 1927, in Weirton, WV, the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Rose Napoli Ballato. Nancy was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Frank and Ross Ballato; and her sisters, Sarah Warzynski, Rose Buelich, Mary Sweda, and Virginia Ballato. Nancy was a homemaker, where she loved to cook, make scrapbooks of her grandchildren, read, and watch game shows. She also loved sports. She and her husband especially enjoyed attending their children and grandchildren’s sporting events. Nancy worked for three years as a Tin Flopper for Weirton Steel, and many years in the Saint Paul’s School Cafeteria, and the Weirton Knights of Columbus. She was a member of Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church, and the Four Seasons. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Louis Yakunich, Sr., whom she married on August 5, 1950; her two sons, Louis and Debbie Yakunich, Jr. of Weirton, and Paul and Holly Yakunich of Sandy Utah; her daughter, Rose Ann and Dennis Beagle; her brother, Sam Ballato all of Weirton, WV; her grandchildren, Jennifer, Luke, Heather, Christina, Ryan, Amanda, Gage, Chelsea, Sayde, and Paaton,; her great grandson, Chase. Visitation will be 1-3 and 6-8 PM Sunday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Monday at the Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at the Saint Paul Cemetery Mausoleum.
