Nancy Lou Conchel

Nancy Lou Conchel of Weirton, a beautiful lady inside and out passed away at the Valley Hospice on Saturday, October 9, 2021, after a three-month battle with cancer. She was 76. Nancy was born in Ripley, WV on May 18, 1945, the second of four children born to Charles Willard and Clora Louise Pickens Smith. She graduated early from Weir High School with the Class of 1962 and attended beauty school before working for State Farm Insurance with Jack and Craig Robinson. After brief employment with Frank Hudachek, Nancy worked the next twenty years as an attendant at Front Street until the COVID 19 pandemic. Nancy was a member of Saint Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. She enjoyed bowling at Steel Valley Lanes, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, playing the slots, and walking for exercise, but nothing compared to the time she cherished being with her family. She adored them, especially her granddaughters. Most of all, Nancy will be remembered for her kind heart. She was always thoughtful, compassionate and with her natural ability to talk she never met a stranger. In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her brother, Willard “Randy” Smith, and her sister Carolyn “Susie” Kulow. She will be remembered with love by her husband, Danny Conchel, whom she married on July 18, 1986; her daughter, Nanette (Tim) Conner; her granddaughters, Chloe and Kaitlyn Conner; her brother, Charles Smith; and her nieces and nephews. Private visitation and services will be held at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton. Entombment will be at Saint Paul’s Mausoleum.
