Otha O. Watson, 83, of Pennsville, N.J. formerly of Weirton, WV, died Tuesday, August 5, 2008 after a brief illness, in the Salem Memorial Hospital. Otha was born on June 14, 1925 in Holliday's Cove, WV, the son of the late Loman O. and Lucinda W. (Walters) Watson. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Dolores T. (Sikora) Watson on October 24, 1999 and his two sisters, Mary Colgrove and Mabel Kelchak. Otha resided in Weirton until two years ago when he moved to New Jersey to be close to his family. He retired from Weirton Steel where he was a crane operator. Otha was a Purple Heart recipient of World War II serving with the 88th Army Infantry Blue Devils in North Africa and Sicily, Italy. Otha was a member of the Weirton Steel 25 year club, the NRA, an honorary member of Hall Hunting and Fishing Club and a lifetime fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the WVU Mountaineers. He enjoyed his cat Sam and especially spending time with outdoor activities including hunting and riding his ATV. Otha is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Renee and James Madole III of Pennsville, NJ; his grandchildren, Sydney and Jacob Madole; his niece Micheline (Kelchak) Smith of Elkton, MD and his nephew, Forest Miller of Weirton, WV. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:30AM until time of services at 10:30AM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV. Interment will follow at the Saint Paul Cemetery, Weirton with military services being conducted by the American Legion and the Weirton Honor Guard.
