Patricia A. Varner, 78, of Weirton, died Tuesday, February 10, 2004 at the Weirton Medical Center. She was born August 17, 1925 in Williamstown, MA, a daughter of the late Patrick Joseph Walsh and Margaret Mary Kelley Walsh. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Teddy T. Varner on March 21, 1995; one brother, Patrick Walsh; and one sister, Mary I. Walsh. Patricia was a homemaker; member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church; 25 year member, past secretary, and treasurer of the Weirton Community Radio Watch; member A.A.R.P. Weir Cove Chapter 3846; lifetime member with over 7000 hours, past treasurer, and recording secretary of Weirton Medical Center Auxiliary, where she was also a member of the Original Hospital Mum Twig; 50 year member and past president Beta Sigma Phi-Laureate Phi Chapter; member and past recording secretary of General Federation Woman’s Club, where she was also a member of the Garden and Literary Clubs; member Marland Heights Civic Association; member and treasurer for 18 years for the Hancock County Easter Seals Society; and member and past officer of the Weir High Band Parents from 1958-1970. Patricia enjoyed watching her grandchildren’s athletic events and dance performances, talking on the phone with family and friends, and playing 500 Bid in different card clubs. She is survived by one son, Timothy T. (JoAnn) Varner of Weirton; one daughter, Margaret “Peg” Varner of Sarasota, FL; five grandchildren, Patricia McCormick, Douglas Hutson, Allison Bones, Shannon Varner, and Kaitlin Varner; and two great grandsons, Phillip and Parker McCormick. Visitation will be from 1-3 and 7-9 PM Sunday, February 15, at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Monday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weirton. Entombment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton. Your Mom and Dad made sure we all had a great time! Your Mom was always smiling and had so much energy…..I always thought she was one of the nicest “Moms” on the street.   8. Dear Peg and Tim, Just a note to let you know that I was deeply saddened by the passing of your mom. Pat was a wonderful person. I was introduced to the family when my mom (Mary Frances) married Richard. Both of your parents were a treat to be around. Pat and I would stay in touch even after my mom passed away. We would send Christmas cards every year and write each other and update on the families. She loved her children and grandchildred VERY much. I will always remember her and smile. Her and mom were good friends, now the four of them can be together again.Our thoughts and prayers and especially the memories are with you, your families and your mom. Please take care.
