Paul F. Straney
January 27, 1933 ~ August 7, 2005
Paul F. Straney, 72, of West Babylon, New York, formerly of Weirton, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2005 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Babylon, NY. Born January 27, 1933 in Weirton, he was the son of the late Charles Nicholas and Marguerite G. McNamara Straney. Paul was also preceded in death by his sister Therese M. Straney.
Paul lived on Long Island where he pursued a musical career which included performances at the Met, Broadway Shows and International Tours.
Paul’s survivors include his wife Shirley Garton Straney of Kew Gardens, NY; son Paul Straney of Burlington Flats, NY; daughter Susannah Wilson of New York City, NY; brothers Lawrence Straney of Bloomingdale, OH, James Straney of Rome, NY and Charles Straney of Grande Ledge, MI; grandchildren James, Elizabeth and Rosemary Straney; sisters Abigail Denning of New York and Rosarii St. John of Pittsburgh, PA.
Friends will be received 7-9Pm Sunday at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 10AM Monday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Weirton. Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to the Straney family at this time of loss. We were out of town this past week and had no idea of Paul’s passing, otherwise we would have been to the visitation. Ruth will likely arrange for a Mass card shortly. Last time I saw Paul was at the Gazebo in Bayshore at a summer evening concert in 2003. I saw him in the audience but didn’t get a chance to talk to him as he had apparently left during intermission. So sad that I missed him.
