Paul Leroy Mercer

Paul Leroy Mercer, 76, of Colliers, WV, died Saturday, January 28, 2012, at the Valley Hospice Care Unit North, Steubenville, OH. Born November 21, 1935 in Middlebourne, WV, he was a son of the late Roy and Lydia Lancaster Mercer. Paul was also preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Mercer Roberts. Paul retired from Weirton Steel after 36 years of service as a Scale Repairman. He was a member of the Colliers Way Church of Christ and the WSX 25 Year Club. Paul was a very talented woodworker who enjoyed working with his hands, especially making furniture. He also enjoyed spending time in his garden. Surviving is his wife of 54 years, Patty Cooper Mercer; a daughter, Pamela K. Crain (James) of Colliers, WV; brother, Wayne Mercer (Violet) of Middlebourne, WV; sister, Irene Reitter (Frank) of Wellsburg, WV; grandchildren, Courtney Crain and Amber Kush (Pat); and great grandchildren, Keara, Jaedyn, and Trey Kush. Visitation will be Monday 2-4 and 6-8 PM, at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where services will be held Tuesday at 11 AM. Thomas C. Derby will officiate. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Colliers, WV. Following the committal service, family and friends are invited to a luncheon at the Colliers Way Church of Christ.
