Paul (Sonny) S Rosnick, 85, of Weirton, WV passed away peacefully with family by his side on January 25, 2022. Paul was born in Weirton, WV, on July 20, 1936 one of nine children born to George and Katherine Lonchar Rosnick. He graduated from Weir High School, where he played football, basketball, and baseball. His athletic talents carried with him throughout life as he later played for the US Army in Fort Worth, TX and coached his sons later in life. After returning from the Army, Paul met Roberta Kerr. They dated for three months and were married on October 17, 1959. With over 62 years of marriage, they were blessed with three children and seven grandchildren. Paul worked for Weirton Steel as a crane operator and Roberta worked outside the home as a registered nurse. Sonny was also blessed with a long retirement, were he enjoyed wintering in Florida and attending his grandchildren’s activities. He was active in the formation of the Weirton Baseball Association, where he helped build the fields, coached his sons, and was an officer on the board of directors. In his free time, he enjoyed meeting his friends for coffee at the Weirton McDonalds, hunting , and tending to his garden. He was a member of the Weirton Heights Memorial Baptist Church, B.P.O.E. Lodge 1801, Moose Lodge 688, Weirton Steel 25 Year Club, American Legion Post 10, and the NRA. Most of all, Paul will be remembered for the love he had for his family, especially his grandchildren. All who knew him loved him. He never met a stranger. His constant smile, and his happy personality will be cherished for generations. In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his seven siblings, Rosemary, Rudy, Michael, and George Rosnick, Pauline Powell, Margie Irvin, and Dorothy Figlioli. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Roberta (Kerr) Rosnick of Weirton, WV; their three children, Robert Rosnick (Chris) of Weirton, Paula Erhard (Craig) of Fairmont, WV, and John Rosnick (Holly) of Aldie, VA, their seven Grandchildren. Stephanie, Lauren, Ryan, Dylan, Grayson, Mallory and Gavin; and his sister, Mary Ann Elliott (Harold). Visitation will be 2 – 4 PM on Saturday at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, where services will be held at 4 PM. Paul will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
