paula gryskevich
Paula Marie Gryskevich, 61, of Weirton, passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2010 in the Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, OH. Born December 19, 1948 in Steubenville, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Tillie Tomaszczyk. She was also preceded in death by her husband John Gryskevich. Mrs. Gryskevich worked as a teacher’s aide for the Hancock County Board of Education and assisted with the mentally handicapped. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Paula is survived by her sons Michael John Gryskevich and his wife Kristen of Brownsburg, IN and Matthew Gryskevich of Morgantown, WV; daughter Cheri Gryskevich of Wintersville, OH; brother Larry Tomaszczyk of Ohio; sister Mary Kay Sisinni of Follansbee and grandchildren Parker and Caden. Visitation will be Friday from 2 until the 4PM funeral services at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton.

She was a teacher’s aid when my youngest son, Evan, was @ Weirton Heights Elementary school and we followed Matt’s progress through sports and especially baseball @ the termite fields. I pray God keeps you close to his heart during this most difficult of times. Matt, I know your a strong young man and to lose both parents @ such a young age is not fair, I wish you many happy days ahead and know you will triumph over this tragedy.

  23. MaryKay and Paula’s Family, Paula and I were 2nd cousins – our moms’were 1st cousins.) Paula and I were same age. I met her numerous times as a child when my family would vs my mom’s numerous sisters/other relatives in Steubenville. Maybe I last saw her 40+ yrs. ago when Fr.Stanley became a Msgr. ??? I moved fr. Ohio in my early 20s, and with our busy lives, we never kept in touch. I DO REMEMBER that we laughed A LOT as kids and teenagers..(I dyed my hair blonde so it could look like hers-but could never get the color right!!!). We always had fun together! I was so saddened to hear of her passing. Had no idea she was so ill. (I moved fr. Ohio in my 20s,and never had a chance to ret. to Steubenville. My deepest sympathy for her family. My mom Veronica (89) is now in a nsg. home in Jefferson,OH and I just vs her over Mother’s Day. Had I been in town longer, my brother,sister and I would have attended her service.
