A motorcycle accident in Geneva, FL, took the life of Pete Lonchar, Jr., 66, of Weirton, on Thursday, March 6, 2014. Born on June 10, 1947 in Steubenville, OH, he was a son of Pete and Dorothy (Sekulich) Lonchar, Sr. of Weirton. He was preceded in death by his brother Nicholas Lonchar on November 25, 2003. Pete retired from Weirton Steel where he worked in the Finished Products Warehouse/ Electrical Repair. He was currently working at the Hurricane Club in Weirton. An active member of the WV ABATE Motorcycle Club, he enjoyed his Harley Davidson, camping and was a car enthusiast. In addition to his parents, Pete is survived by his wife Cathy (Schayes) Lonchar whom he married May 21, 1982; a son, Shawn Michael Lonchar; a granddaughter Bridgett Lonchar all of Weirton and a sister, Darlene Gaydos of New Cumberland, WV. Visitation will be held 11 AM Monday until the time of his services at 1 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV, The Reverend Dana Snodgrass will officiate.   13. I knew Pete when I lived on Weirton Heights and he was a very kind helpful person sorry he had to leave this world at such a blessed time in his life.     Pete and I spent alot of time working on and racing muscle cars in the 60’s and 70’s. Although we didn’t spend as much time together recently, I’ll always cherish the time we did spend together.
