Peter Adam Szymanski, 90, of Weirton passed away Sunday, August 16, 2020. Peter was born in Yorkville, OH on January 30, 1930 to Peter and Isabella Bork Szymanski. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Edward and Rufin. He will be remembered lovingly by his wife of 67 years, Dolores Fijewski Szymanski; his daughters Donna (Jeff) Turner of St. Clairsville, OH and Maria Bachmann of Valencia, PA; son David (Janine) Szymanski of Owatonna, MN; grandchildren, Nicole (Mike) Wigen and Taylor Szymanski; and his great grandchildren, Emmelou and Russell Wigen. Peter and his family nourished their faith at Sacred Heart of Mary Church in Weirton where he was a member of the Holy Name Society. He enjoyed his years in the Knights of Columbus Council 3734 and Fourth Degree Assembly 1194. Peter was a Sergeant with the US Army where he served as a Quartermaster in Germany for 3 years. He retired from Weirton Steel after 43 years in the Open Hearth and Basic Oxygen Plant. He enjoyed volunteering his time with the Auxiliary of Weirton Medical Center and attending the school and extracurricular events of his children and grandchildren. Peter’s passion in life was gardening and sharing the abundant harvest of “Pete’s Produce” with family, friends and neighbors. Peter will be remembered for his love for God and family, his friendly nature, and always working to provide for his family. Friends and relatives will be received from 9:00 AM until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM Wednesday at Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Saint Paul’s Cemetery with military graveside services.
