regina anas
Regina C. Anas, 81, formerly of Weirton, died Thursday, August 8, 2002 at the Seaside Health Center in Virginia Beach, VA. She was born October 2, 1920 in New Orleans, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Constantine and Lola Anagnastopoulis Pelias. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas G. Anas and brother, Harold Pelias. Regina graduated from Sophie B. Wright High School in New Orleans and attended Newcomb Women’s College of Tulane. She was married and came to Weirton in 1940. Regina was a member of the Women’s Golf Association and, for over 40 years, was a member of Williams Country Club. She was Club Champion in 1962 and Senior Club Champion in 1980. Regina was co-founder of the Weirton Women’s Club Annual Arts and Crafts Festival. Regina was a volunteer for Weirton General Hospital for over 25 years. She was a member of the Friends of the Library, Weirton Civic Foundation, All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, the Ladies Philoptochos Society, a long-time member of the Cranberry Twig and was involved with many City of Weirton projects. Regina is survived by three daughters, Helen Shoup of Virginia Beach, VA, Theodora Rozdilsky of Steubenville, OH and Stephanie Bode of Norfolk, VA; one brother, Gerald Pelias and his wife Mickey of New Orleans; one sister, Anita Georges and her husband Dennis of New Orleans; two sisters-in-law, Lydia Pelias of New Orleans and Kathryn Brereton of Virginia Beach,nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 11 from 1:00 – 3:00 PM and 7:00 – 9:00 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Regina will lie in state on Monday, August 12 from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM service at the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church. Rev. Father Terry Linos will officiate. Interment will follow at Chestnut Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, 3528 West Street, Weirton, WV 26062. She was so much fun all of the time. We even had fun in our art class at the college. She was a wonderful woman. She will be missed.

  6. Please accept my deepest sympathy. Your mother was a good friend to so many people, and you could always count on hearing a new joke whenever you saw Regina. In addition to all her other activities in Weirton, she was a long time active and loyal board member of the Hancock Co. TB League (Christmas Seals),which dissolved in the merger with the American Lung assn.
