robert valenti, sr.
Robert Charles Valenti, Sr., 75, of Weirton, died Thursday, May 6, 2004 at the Weirton Medical Center. He was born on September 3, 1928 in Weirton, a son of the late Carlo Valenti and Marie K. (Boniti) DeCollo and Costantino DeCollo. He was also preceded in death by one nephew, Daniel Fijewski. Bob retired with 37 years of service from National Steel where he worked on the electrolytic line in the Tin Mill. He also worked at Morelli Brothers for many years. Bob was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, St. Paul Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus #3734, Sons of Italy, American Legion Post #10, and the Four Seasons. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Bob enjoyed carpentry and gardening. Bob is survived by his wife, Carol (Cipriani) Valenti, whom he married on October 9, 1954; one son, Robert C. Valenti, Jr. and his wife Karan; one daughter, Deborah Garrison and her husband Charles; two sisters, Chris Barker and her husband Boyd and Judy Fijewski and her husband Max; and three grandchildren, Kayla, Matthew, and Robert Charles Valenti III, all of Weirton. Visitation will be from 7-9 PM Saturday and 1-3 and 7-9 PM Sunday at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 10AM Monday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weirton. Entombment will be at St. Paul Cemetery where military services will be conducted by the American Legion Post #10, V.F.W. #2716, and Tri-State Marine Corps.
