Robert D. "RC" Cole, 63, of Weirton, passed away Monday, June 3, 2013 in Life Line Hospital, Wintersville, Ohio. He was the husband of the late Joyce Smith Cole who passed away in 2007. Born on August 13, 1949 in Weirton he was a son of the late Basil and Wilma Schupbach Cole. He was also preceded in death by a brother Larry Harmon. Robert was a 1967 graduate of Weir High School, worked as the parts coordinator for Weirton Steel Corporation for 20 years and was an outgoing person and an avid sports fan especially watching the Pittsburgh Steelers. He is survived by four sons Robert D. Cole, Jr. and Randall G. Smith, Jr., Raymond T. Smith and fianc (Jessica Ford), and John "Rick" Smith (Becky) all of Weirton; daughters Diana Lester (Brian) of Waynesburg, OH and Donna Dotson of Steubenville, OH; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a niece Candy Harmon. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 4pm until the 8pm funeral service at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St., Weirton. Contributions may be made to Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home.

  1. RC, I remember him from High School I was from the Class of 68 and he was an Alumni of 1967. Many days growing up we played basketball at the community center baseball in the summer. He was an avid sports fan, of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pirates. He was really good friends of Mike Block who lived on Orchard St. Mike would often entertain RC, at his home in Florida. He will be missed, sad to hear of his Death.

  6. i just lost my best friend of 50 years & the brother i never had!we talked ever friday morning & he made 10 trips to florida in may to try & always get a tan!(like the sun doesn’t shine in weirton)he made so many friends down here that when we were together in the pool or playing cards that people couldn’t believe that we were best of friends!i called him the worst names & he always gave it back with words i never heard of!i really will miss all of that!i got to say my goodby to him sunday nite,when my good friend dean went to see him & held his cell phone to his ears & told him i loved him like the brother i never had!THANKS to all of his true friends in weirton for always being there for him & as i tell all my friends in the villages that knew him that he might not look like much,but he would give you the shirt off his back!my sister bonnie says,he was & always will be FAMILY!CATHY & I LOVE YOU FOREVER & REST IN PEACE MY BROTHER!
