Robert H. Jansma, 56 of Weirton died Saturday at the Weirton Medical Center. He was born August 14, 1944 in Harvey, Illinois, son of Margaret V. Voss Tanner of Tinley Park, Illinois, and the late Hans M. Jansma.
Robert was manager of operations planning for Weirton Steel Co. where he worked for 34 years. He was a member of the 25 Year Club of Weirton Steel, a preferred member of the Phantom Fireworks Club. As known to many, Robert was a fireworks enthusiast, and his favorite holiday was the 4th of July. He was prostestant by faith
He is survived by his wife, Denise Dabrowski Jansma of Weirton, and a son Todd Jansma of Pittsburgh Pa.
Services will be conducted at the Thornridge Funeral Home, 15801 South Cottage Grove Ave., Dolton, Illinois, 60419.
Entombment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Our Lady of Czestochowa Mausoleum, Calumet City, Illinois.

Denise & Todd, I want to express my deepest sympathy. I really thought a lot of Bob. He was the greatest friend anyone could ask for. There was never a boring moment when he was around. He was the smartest Production Planning person Weirton ever had. He will be missed greatly by everyone who’s life he touched. I feel very honored to have known him. Please take care of yourself and let God heal your hurt. Just remember Bob is not suffering now and he is in a better place. He will be misssed and thought about daily. During my time at the mill, Bob was my ” go to” guy. He always went the extra mile to help me out. He had such a great sense of humor. Bob was one of my favotie people and it was a pleasure to have known him if only for a brief time. I will miss him. You have my deepest sympathy for your loss.
Bob was such a sweet person. Although he did not work in my department here at Weirton Steel,I would see him quite often going for the elevator and he always had a friendly greeting or he would say something funny. Not too long ago while riding on the elevator with him, he was smiling and he told me he just got back from a fabulous cruise. He said, “We had such a great time!”. I’m glad you all got to enjoy yourselves. He will be missed here at WSC by me and my coworkers. You have my deepest sympathy.
Our company will miss Bob, with his professional attitude and work ethic. I’ll miss Bob as a good friend and co-worker. We should all remember him for his smile and sense of humor. So here’s to you,Bob… This one’s for you!
Bob will be greatly missed at Weirton Steel not only for his expertice but for the many friends he made. Bob’s patience was always admired even when he’d recieved a thousand calls but he still answered the phone. “Never confrontational but direct and to the point is how I’ll always remember Bob”.
Denise and Todd, please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Bob spoke of you both so often when we worked together in Production/Operations Planning. I last talked to Bob when he called to tell me of Garn’s passing. Bob was such a kind and thoughtful man and will truly be missed by so many.

Auntie & Todd, Although you’ve just spent the week around us I never really got to tell you you anything. I just wanted to let you know we will all miss Uncle Bob very much. 4th of July will never be the same without him. Who’s going to ask if it’s time to light the fire works? This past 4th was one of the most fun and memorable ones, because of all of you. Uncle Bob was like a kid in a candy store with his fireworks! Todd will have to keep the firework fun up for Uncle Bob! Uncle Bob was always a great person to be around. And was a lot of fun!!! I will miss him every time I come out there. I loved him a lot.!!
