robert defelice
Inventor, artist and entrepreneur, Robert J. DeFelice, 92, of Weirton died Wedneday, October 21, 2015, at Sienna Woods Skilled Nursing in Wintersville, OH. Born on April 9, 1923, in Penowa, PA, Robert was a son of the late Giacomo and Virginia Porfili DeFelice. He was also preceded in death by his step father, Vittorio DeFelice; his brother, John (Joyce) DeFelice; and his sister, Ellen (Tony) Zatta. Bob served in the United States Army 164th Combat Engineers, in the European Theatre of World War II. While serving his country, Bob's dream was to one day own and operate an automobile dealership. He would save every nickel he could, and send the money home, to save for his dealership. When he returned home from the war, Bob with the help of Michael Starvaggi opened up the Highland Pontiac Garage on Pennsylvania Avenue in Weirton. He and his brother in law Tony Zatta were co- owners until their retirement. Mr. DeFelice was a member of Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, VFW 2716, American Legion Post 10, and the Tri State Automotive Dealers He is survived by his wife, Josephine Contumelio DeFelice, whom he married on May 3, 1952; his two daughters, Jeanette and Roy Gryskevich of New Cumberland, WV and Virginia DeFelice of Weirton, WV. Visitation will be 1-3 and 6-8 PM Sunday at Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV. Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated 10 AM Monday at Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Weirton, with Rev. Fr. Manny Gelido and Rev. Fr. Walter Jagela presiding. Entombment will follow in Saint Paul's Cemetery Mausoleum with military services conducted by the United States Army and the American Legion Honor Guards.
