RoseMarie "Rosie" Kaminski, 85, passed away peacefully in her home in Elkridge, Maryland, on July 29, 2016, where she was living with her daughter Noreen Kaminski and her granddaughter Abigail Kaminski for the last few years. She was born in Weirton, West Virginia, on January 12, 1931 and is the daughter of the late Lucille (Tassey) Spano (1972) and Louis Spano (1986). She is preceded in death by her son Robert Kaminski (2016) and her husband Ziggy Kaminski (1978). She was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Sammy and Jimmy Spano (2007) and her brother-in-law Scotchie Controguerra (2004) and her niece Lucille Marie Spano Platt (2012). She graduated from Weir High School in 1948. She was married to her late husband in 1957 and traveled around the world with him in his Navy career. She was President and on the Board of Directors for the local AARP in Weirton for more than a decade. She volunteered at the Senior Center. She loved to bake and would make cookies when asked. Her love of baking went with her to Okinawa where the Okinawan school bus driver referred to her as "Ichi Mamasan" (No.1 Mom) because she would share baked goods with them they never had. She also enjoyed going to bingo with her late best friend. She loved her family and Weirton. She is survived by her daughter and granddaughter Noreen and Abigail Kaminski, whom she lived with in Maryland; her son Eugene (Stacey) Kaminski of Imperial, PA; her daughter-in-law Marcy (Kurensky) (Robert) Kaminski of Weirton, West Virginia; her sister Joanna Spano (late Scotchie) Controguerra of Steubenville, Ohio; her sister-in-laws, Joan Elliott (Sammy) Spano and Mary Veltri (Jimmy) Spano, both of Weirton, WV; her grandchildren Courtney and Jacob Kaminski of Weirton, West Virginia; her step grandchildren, Joshua, Timothy and Kaitlin Cider; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends and family will be received 2-4 PM Thursday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV, where a Liturgy of the Word service will be held at 4 PM. Rev. Fr. Larry Dorsch will preside. Her cremains will be place to rest next to her husband at Saint Paul's Cemetery, Weirton.
