Rosemarie Colantonio

Rosemarie Colantonio, 85, of Weirton, passed away peacefully, at home, surrounded by her family on Thursday, May 26, 2016. Born February 9, 1931, in Weirton, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Rodeski) Merenda. She was also preceded in death by her sister Joanne Merenda. Rosemarie worked as a homemaker, taking care of her family and always putting them first. She was an excellent cook and loved dancing and music. Affectionately known as Noni and Grandma Rose, Rosemarie was known for her giving and unassuming nature. She was always thinking of others, and her church, family and friends meant the world to her. Rose was a lifelong member of St. Paul Catholic Church where she belonged to the Christian Mothers. She was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Women's Auxiliary, the St. Paul St. Joseph Guild and ISDA Weirtonian Lodge. She is survived by her beloved husband Mario Colantonio; son Mark (LuAnne) Colantonio; daughters Maria Colantonio and Toni (David) Yazbek, all of Weirton,; grandchildren Francesca, Alexandra, Mark Alex and Lea,; brothers Frank Merenda and Carl (Donna) Merenda, and sisters Frances (George) Risk, Dolores Frisco, Eleanora "Chi Chi" (Steve) Kopa, and Regina (John) Brun all of Weirton. Friends will be received on Friday from 4-8PM at the Greco- Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM Saturday at St. Paul Catholic Church. Rev. Father Larry Dorsch and Rev. Father Tony Thurston will concelebrate. Entombment will follow at St. Paul Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church, 140 Walnut Street, Weirton, WV 26062, Madonna High School, 150 Michael Way, Weirton, WV 26062 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
