rosemary magnone
Rosemary Magnone, 86, of Weirton, a sweet, selfless, loving, and generous mother, Nana, aunt, and friend passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2020. Rose was born in the town of Belmonte in Calabria, Italy on August 3, 1934, to Joseph and Giovanna (Osso) Tirreno. Rose moved from Italy to Midland, PA as a teenager and resided there until she met her husband Sam Magnone, whom she married in 1951. Together, Rose and Sam were blessed with three children and six grandchildren. Rose worked at Manuel’s Dry Cleaners for 51 years before she retired. Rose’s faith was very important to her—she was an active member of St. Joseph the Worker parish in Weirton, where she was also a Christian Mother. She was the sweetest woman with the biggest heart. She was selfless and was always more concerned with making sure everyone else around her was happy, taken care of, and most important to her, fed. She would always say “there’s nothing like family” and was happiest when she was surrounded by and cooking for her loved ones. In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Magnone, and her brother Santo Tirreno. She will be remembered with love and fond memories by her sons, Tony (Theresa) and John Magnone; her daughter, Joanne (Ross) McKinlay; her six grandchildren, Kara (Chad) Chappell, Kacy (Tom) Grossi, Jared Magnone, Brea (Matt) Compomizzi, Samantha and Zach McKinlay; and sister Angelina Stancati as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 2, 2020, at Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church in Weirton. Entombment will follow at Saint Paul’s Cemetery Mausoleum. Rose’s family would like to send special thanks to the staff of Garden Place at the Weirton Geriatric Center for their love and care and Valley Hospice for their compassion and support. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Weirton Geriatric Center Resident Fund 2525 Pennsylvania Avenue, Weirton, WV 26062. Share tributes at www.grecohertnick.com

They loved each other dearly, and she was often like a second mother to me, and I loved her for it. I know she and my mom are overjoyed to see each other again. The loss of this incredibly loving and kind-hearted woman will undoubtedly leave voids impossible to fill. And Heaven has become even more beautiful… May she forever rest in peace and the glory of God. Our deepest condolences to Zia Rosina’s entire family.
