roxanne trevena
Roxanne Trevena, of Weirton, formerly of Paris, PA, left this realm and ascended into Heaven early in the morning on June 21st peacefully while sleeping after a long and courageous war with Huntington’s Disease, of which she won many battles. She joins her mother Marian in Heaven, whom she called “Ma”. Ma was waiting for her with open arms at the Pearly Gates. Roxanne was always a fighter, and she battled to live several additional years more than doctors predicted in that she was placed on hospice three and a half years ago. Those precious extra years of living enabled her young nieces, Savannah and Samantha, to get to know her beautiful and gentle Spirit. Roxanne was born in Greensburg, PA, on November 2, 1964, daughter of the late John Trevena and Marian Link Sigler. Roxanne was a devoted member of Crossroads Church and a graduate of Burgettstown High School. She was also preceded in death by her loving and caring aunt Patty Link Makar of Pensacola, FL, uncle Russell Link of Follansbee, WV, and grandparents Russell and Mary Link of Eldersville, PA. Left to cherish her memory are her brothers Brian Trevena and Todd (Shannon) Sigler, sisters Kimberly Puskarich, Jennifer (Kenneth) Rizzo and Janice (Thomas) McGee, uncles Ray Link and Robert Makar, aunt June Link, nieces Ashley (Doug) Stone, Savannah and Samantha Sigler, nephew Ryan Trevena, great-niece Avery Stone, best friend for life Lisa (David) Renner and many cousins and friends everywhere. Roxanne is the best sister and aunt with the most loving heart anyone can imagine. She loves kids and absolutely adores her nieces, Savannah & Samantha. She also loves her older niece and nephew, Ashley and Ryan more than anything, along with her brothers, Brian and Todd, sisters Jennifer, Janice, and Kimberly, sister-in-law Shannon, and best friend Lisa. She taught her little brother, Todd, how to pray and just how to be and live life as a Christian, for which he will be forever grateful. Thank God for her best friend Lisa for helping take such great care of her for many, many years. She has so many wonderful friends and family that she loves and so many that have cared for and loved her at Weirton Geriatric Center Enchanted Gardens, her loving home for the past several years. Her loving caregivers at Weirton Geriatric became her family as well, including nurses Debbie and Deetta. Roxanne loved rock music, but especially classic rock, and she loved to sing to it. House reverberations of Queen, Bon Jovi, and Aerosmith are her brothers’ most vivid memories. Little brother Todd always loved to sing “Roxanne” by the Police back to her. She and her friend Lisa used to love to dress him up as a girl in her old dance outfit and he enjoyed and cherishes all the fun memories! She was also an outstanding softball player who played catcher. Niece Ashley and nephew Ryan called her “Aunt San” as a term of endearment that Roxanne absolutely loved and adored. Roxanne’s wish for cremation has been honored, along with a Celebration of Life and Memorial Service for her family and many friends as a tribute to the loving and funny person she was and the beautiful soul she will always be. “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” Friends and relatives are invited to visit with Roxanne’s family on Friday from 6 – 8 PM at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. Additional visitation will be held Saturday at Crossroads Church, 308 Penco Road in Weirton from 10 AM — 11 AM, with a Memorial and Celebration of Life Service, immediately following until Noon. Pastor Andrew Belko will officiate. Inurnment will follow at 1 PM at Riverview Cemetery, 2026 St Clair Ave, East Liverpool, OH at her family plot. You are encouraged to dress casually as per Roxanne’s preference. Donations are encouraged to be made in Roxanne’s honor to the Huntington’s Disease Society of America at https://hdsa.org/get-involved/donation-opportunities/.
