roy purviance
Roy Gordon Purviance, an excellent musician on keyboards, bass guitar, trombone, and vocals passed away on August 27, 2021. He was 84. On June 6, 1937, Roy, and his twin brother Ronald were two of four sons born to George Earl and Miriam Purviance. A former Weirton resident, Roy was living in Rancho Mirage California when he passed. A lot of area residents will remember Roy from when he played in the area social clubs with his band Variations Unlimited. Roy retired from Weirton Steel, where he worked in the Sheet Mill. After moving to California, Roy was employed in Palm Springs, CA as a real estate agent. In 2001, he was elected president of the Palm Springs Regional Association of Realtors. Roy finished his working career working in the surveillance department of Spotlight 29 Casino. In his free time, Roy loved riding his Harleys even on the California freeways. Roy was a former member of the Weirton Heights Memorial Baptist Church and an active member of the Desert Chapel in Palm Springs. In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his twin brother Ron, and his two brothers Richard and Ray Purviance. He will be remembered with love by his wife Linda of Rancho Mirage; his two sons, Daniel Earl Purviance (Debbie) of Woodlands, Texas and Timothy Jay Purviance of Weirton, WV; his six grandchildren Heather, Joey, Christie, Cierra, Brittany, and Crystal, his three great-grandchildren, Aaliyah, Noah, and Ashton; and his great friend, Jimmy “Eppy” Epifano. Goodbye, my friend. Share tributes at www.grecohertnick.com
