Roy Paden Marker
February 12, 1926 ~ May 23, 2019
Our father, Roy Paden Marker, was a proud and brave Marine. He was born at home in Steubenville, OH on February 12, 1926.
He saw the flag raised on Iwo Jima, loved hunting and fishing and was lucky enough to retire at the age of 55. If Ed and he weren’t fishing, they were hunting.
Dad had five children; Edward Marker, Joan Ann Marker, Darlene Marie Marker, Donna Kay Marker and Roy Patrick Marker, as well as his extended family. He was very proud of his 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He will be missed by us and his many friends.
He passed peacefully at home in the morning hours of May 23, 2019.
Visitation will be held Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV, where funeral services will be celebrated 11am Wednesday. The Pastor Rick Dawson will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Paul Cemetery with Military Services being conducted by the United States Marine Corp and American Legion Honor Guards.

I’m sorry to hear about the loss of your loved one. When someone we love dies, it’s natural to want to see that person again. God promises us that He will comfort us in our trials if we go to him in prayer. 2 Corinthians 1:3 calls him the God of all comfort. Very sorry to hear about your father. He was always a great guy to all of us kids growing up on the street. Never knew he was a Marine like my own father. Semper Fi Roy.
