Russell D. Payton, 79, of Weirton, WV, formally of Middlebourne, WV, born June 25, 1937, departed this life July 5, 2016. He was a son of the late Ancel and Girty Payton. He is also preceded in death by one brother and three sisters. Russell was a very loving, caring and special man who was known as "Uncle Russ" by everyone he met. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a true Pittsburgh Pirate fan. He is survived by his daughter Gina (John) Pastors of Weirton; brothers Dale and Alan Payton; sister Violet Sandstrom; close friend Jack Folger, who was like a brother to him; and several nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by his family and fur babies, Shadow, Poohbear and Bobby, and everyone that knew him. Special thanks to Amber Slider and Ersa Skjerli for always being there when needed and the Love of Critter Country Animal Farm. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.   3. So sorry for the passing of your Uncle Russ. Uncle Russ knew how much you loved him. Lynn & I thought the world of Uncle Russ and are so happy to have known him. Uncle Russ was a great influence in Amber & Adams life.

  4. There are no words that I can say to make it any better for ya. But Uncle was a sweet, kind and a very nice neighbor. I loved talking to him on his porch. He will be missed dearly.

  7. Uncle Russ (father) also my best friend you devoted your whole life to me you were everything to me . I thank god for all the beautiful memories I have of you . I’m going to miss you a part of my heart is gone and no one will ever fill that part . But I know you are in heaven and watching over me and you are finally pain free and resting . We will be together again I love you . Shadow is keeping watch over everything . And sleeps on your pillow everynight .
