Russell Steiner, 80, of Weirton, passed away Friday, March 11, 2005 at the Weirton Medical Center. Born October 3, 1924 in Bridgeville, PA, he was the son of the late Jacob and Pauline Triebsch Steiner. Russell was also preceded in death by an infant son Eric and brothers Francis and Babe Steiner. After 42 years of service, Russell retired from Weirton Steel where he worked as an Operator in the Tin Mill Department. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Church, the WSX 25-Year Club and Knights of Columbus 3734. During World War II, he served as an Army Medic with the 507 Paratroop Regiment, 82nd Air Borne Div. Russell’s survivors include his wife Anne (Sikora) Steiner of Weirton; daughter Desiree Steiner-Hayes and her husband Curtis of Marietta, GA; sons Eric Russell Steiner and his wife Susan of New Manchester, WV and Kurt Michael Steiner of Weirton; granddaughter Haylianne Robb Steiner of New Manchester and brothers Leroy Steiner of Bloomingdale, OH and Richard Steiner of Town Lake, GA. The family will receive friends Sunday 6-9PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 10AM Monday at Sacred Heart of Mary Church with Father Kent Durig presiding. Interment will be at St. Paul Cemetery in Weirton with military services being conducted by the VFW Firing Squad and Evert Maki American Legion Post 10 Honor Guard.
