Ruth Ellen Reinard, 87, of Weirton, passed away in the Weirton Geriatric Center September 28, 2012, after a lengthy illness. Born September 23, 1925 in Holliday's Cove, WV, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth McLaughlin MacKenzie. She was also preceded in death by her brother Lloyd McLaughlin. Ruth Ellen was a clerk for the Army Air Force during her husband's service in the military and moved with him from base to base during his tenure in the service. She enjoyed working with the servicemen and their families and being able to help them. She became an employee of the former Weirton General Hospital shortly after her return to Weirton and worked for 17 years before retiring. In her free time, Ruth Ellen enjoyed traveling all over the United States and spending time with her nephews, nieces, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was Den Mother of Pack 32, a phone caller for 4 Seasons and the local AARP in Weirton. She enjoyed attending functions of the Weirton Area Museum and Cultural Center and meeting the people that were able to enjoy the rich and diverse culture of Weirton. She was a member of the Paris Presbyterian Church and the Wellsburg Chapter 23 Order of the Eastern Star. Ruth is survived by her husband Richard Daniel Reinard, Sr. of Weirton, whom she married December 6, 1943; sons Richard (Diane) Reinard and Timothy (Angela) Reinard; brother John (Norma) MacKenzie; close friend Patty Reinard; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Sunday 1-3 and 6-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. Funeral services will be celebrated 11AM Monday, October 1 at the Paris Presbyterian Church with Dr. Christina Hosler officiating. Interment will be in Chestnut Ridge Cemetery, Florence, PA. Memorial contributions may be made to Paris Presbyterian Church, 127 Steubenville Pike, Paris, PA 15021. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Weirton Geriatric Center for their many acts of kindness and the help they gave Ruth Ellen during the time she was there.
