Sally Lynn Bartis

Sally Lynn Bartis, of Weirton, formerly of Avoca, PA passed away on December 27, 2020. She was 86. Born on March 13, 1934, in Avoca, PA, Sally was the youngest of four children born to Floyd and Ruey Gregory Dommermuth. On March 1, 1952, Sally married John Bartis. In their 31 years of marriage, they were blessed with three sons and three daughters, a family that grew to an additional 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Sally was a homemaker. Following the death of her husband, she worked outside the home selling advertisements for the Almanac Advertiser. Sally, an avid knitter, volunteered her time to rock babies at local hospitals, including Weirton Medical Center. She enjoyed reminiscing about her childhood and the pride she had in her hometown of Avoca, PA. She enjoyed visiting Avoca with her family and friends and stopping for a Coney Island hot dog. She loved singing old songs with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and cherished every moment she had with them. Her stash of Luden’s honey licorice cough drops will probably be found for years to come. To celebrate Sally’s life, pour yourself her favorite drink, a rum and coke. In addition to her parents and her husband, Sally was preceded in death by her great-grandchildren, Harper and Hadley Elder, her grandson, Joshua Young, her brother, Ron Dommermuth, and sister, Ann McHale. She is survived by her three sons, John (Theresa) Bartis, Mike (Pam) Bartis), and Joel (Beth) Bartis; her daughters, Ruey Read, Judy (Tom) Norton, and Sarah (Mike) Posti; brother, Bill “Woogie” Dommermuth; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
